Cold Coffee (Indian Style)

Cold Coffee (Indian Style)

My 174th recipe, “Cold Coffee Recipe (Indian Style)”, a super cool and refreshing drink for the hot summer day. A coffee which is nicely frothy, creamy and satisfies your taste buds. And not just stopping with supplying you with the needed caffeine for the day.

Being a South Indian, I love to start my day with a cup of hot filter coffee, a strong coffee indeed. A good cup of coffee with the slight bitter taste gives me the needed boost to keep me active during my day. However there are times, especially in summer, when I crave for cold coffee drinks instead of a hot one. During those days this easy cold coffee recipe has been my savior for several years now. My goto drink during such occasions.

And I am not alone on this addiction. I have good company, since it is one of RK’s favorite too. He is not a big fan of other cold beverages like soda or cool drinks. So, this is a goto drink for him as well.

While I grew up in India, I havent visited many coffee shops. I had tasted cold coffee only from Cafe Coffee Day and it was my favorite. However RK believes that he likes the one at Satyam Cinemas better. It seems to have the right level of coffee favor and creaminess and a perfect drink to have while watching the movies 😉 I never even knew that there were different ways to make a coffee.

However in recent years, after I moved over to the United States / North America, I never enjoy the cold coffees anymore from my local coffee shop. Its not about the the type of coffee they use, but its more about my personal preference. While they even use freshly ground coffee beans to make cold coffee beverages. I still miss the creamy texture and richness I used to enjoy in the Indian style cold-brew coffee.

So this is a very basic coffee recipe of mine, which I rely upon most often than not. While iced coffees are not my forte, this is still such an easy recipe. Hence thought of sharing it as a dedication to all coffee lovers and coffee drinkers like us 🙂 A delicious cold coffee made with the concoction of few simple ingredients.

And what good is a coffee with a good evening snack to pair it with. Down below are some of my favorite snacks to pair up with this delicious coffee.

Notes | FAQ

– If you do not want to add ice cream, skip it. Instead add 1/4 tsp vanilla extract and 1 Tbsp additional sugar.
– Instead of blending the ice cream in, you can also serve the coffee with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
– Instead of vanilla ice cream, for a variation you can use chocolate ice cream. Also, optionally you can add in 1/4 tsp of vanilla extract.
– To get more adventurous, you can top it off with whipped cream as well.
– Adjust the quantity of ice cream as per your desire. Add more for a creamier and thicker coffee.
–  You can use any type of milk like Almond Milk / Soy Milk / Coconut Milk. I used just regular whole milk.
–  Instead of sugar you can also make a simple syrup and use it or even a readily available vanilla syrup.
