Ingredients

  • 8 slices Bread slices thick slices preferred
  • 1 ¼ cups Milk
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • Salt a pinch
  • tsp Cinnamon powder
  • ¼ tsp Vanilla essence
  • 2 ¼ tbsp Custard powder vanilla flavor
  • 1 ½ tbsp Butter – adjust as needed

Instructions

  • First, take a wide bowl and add 1 cup of milk. Then, add sugar, salt, cinnamon powder, and vanilla essence. Whisk well until combined.
  • Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix custard powder with ¼ cup milk, making sure there are no lumps.
  • Add this custard mixture to the milk mixture and whisk well.
  • Heat a pan and add a small amount of butter (about ½ tbsp for 2–3 slices). Keep the flame on low.
  • Once the pan is hot, dip each bread slice into the milk mixture on both sides (quick dip, do not soak too long). Place the dipped bread onto the pan.
  • Cook on low flame, flipping occasionally, until both sides turn golden brown.
  • Remove and transfer to a serving plate.
  • Before starting the next batch, wipe the pan with a paper towel/cloth and add fresh butter. Repeat the process.
  • Serve hot topped with fresh fruits, pancake syrup, and powdered sugar.

Notes | FAQ

  1. Do not soak the bread for too long—quick dipping prevents sogginess and helps achieve a nice texture.
  2. Use vanilla-flavored custard powder for best taste.
  3. Cooking on low flame ensures even browning and soft texture inside.
